DESCRIPTION OF THE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Institute of Transport and Traffic Engineering is an interdisciplinary research organization within the Faculty of Transportation, University of Belgrade, primarily oriented at solving the problem from all forms of traffic, transport and communications. The main objectives of the Institute are to promote applied research, new methodologies and technologies and with the participation of eminent experts, there is a superior solution for its clients. Institute with its environment, human and technical resources, extensive experience and references, provides its customers high quality interdisciplinary expert solutions for traffic, transport and communications. The Institute has the highest level of knowledgeable professional staff who demonstrated in solving the problems stem from the area in the country and abroad, both for governmental institutions and companies in public and privately owned. Character of research and managerial activities of the Institute often requires an interdisciplinary approach which led to the development of strong professional relationships with numerous experts and research organizations at home and abroad. Overview of the main areas of work gives a rough picture of research and managerial activities of the Institute. Bearing in mind the specific requirements of individual clients practice and specific research projects.

Status of the Institute provides full independence in setting up teams of experts in solving specific problems. For each specific problem formed an interdisciplinary team of experts (in a specific area) of the Institute and also to determine the project manager. The flexibility of the Institute considering the complexity of problems in the field of traffic and transport allows the inclusion, as appropriate, experts from other research organizations from home and abroad.

RESEARCH IN TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT

The Institute specializes in research in all areas of traffic and transportation. This includes research and definition of requirements for transport, traffic flow characteristics, research of passenger and cargo flows, the study of user behavior characteristics, development of simulation models in traffic and transport, before and after the study, development of expert systems, use of IT in traffic, transport and communications .

PLANNING OF ROAD AND TRANSPORT

The application of different methodologies and techniques in the transportation and traffic planning in all areas. Passenger and freight transport, distribution of the forms, reports, passenger and freight terminals, studies of organizations in all sorts of traffic and transport, handling and transport policy, the analysis of transport and transport networks, impact studies and others.

TRAFFIC ENGINEERING AND CONTROL TRAFFIC

The application of different methodologies and techniques to manage traffic. Traffic control at city and vangradskoj network management needs for parking. Safety studies and expertise of traffic accidents. Remote operational management of transport means, communicating with drivers, application of new technologies.

TRANSPORT EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES

Development of methodology for the selection of appropriate means of transport as a function of demand, capacity, technical parameters of resources and infrastructure. Defining the parameters of new transport vehicles. Selection and techno-economic evaluation of transport vehicles and equipment.

COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

Planning, design, management, operation and maintenance of public and functional - special purpose - communication networks. Technology postal and telecommunications traffic. Control and quality management services. Connection systems in traffic and transport. Logistic engineering.

TRANSPORT ECONOMICS

The application of valuation techniques to the problems of traffic and transportation. Functional assessment, cost benefit analysis, financing of transport operations and infrastructure, savings in energy, commodity transportation. The transformation of ownership structures in traffic and transport. Modeling and evaluation of complex systems in traffic, transport and communications.

OPERATION RESEARCH

The application of operations research in solving the problems of transport, transport and communications. Application of standard techniques such as mathematical programming, statistics, theory of ranks, simulation, graph theory, theory of location, routing, fuzzy sets, neural networks and others.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF COMPUTER PROGRAM

The application of computer techniques in solving problems in the field of traffic, transport and communication, development of computer programs, development of databases, selection of computer configurations for the needs of clients and others.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Study impact of transport infrastructure and transport on the environment. Security Studies. The effect of different types of vehicles - noise, vibration and pollution. Defining strategies in the field of environmental protection.

EXPERIMENTAL AND LABORATORY TESTING

Tests and measurement of static and dynamic phenomena in all kinds of transportation. Tests and measurement noise, vibration, pollution and other traffic. Test different types of materials in application traffic. Standardization. Experimental and laboratory testing of electric vehicles, testing of lifts. Measuring and testing equipment and transport vehicles. Certification.

BRIEF HISTORY

Institute for the Study and Promotion of Transport (1961 .- 1972.)

The Institute was established by the Council of Transport Engineering Faculty of 6 April 1961. After the adoption and the adoption of the Statute of the Faculty of Transportation, 16 March 1967th The Rules of the tasks, organization of the Bureau, 23 januara 1969. year, exactly a given task of the Institute: naučnoistražvačke performing activities in transport, both within the Faculty, and for other legal and natural persons.

Institute of Transport and Traffic Engineering (1972. -)

Since 1972. The Faculty of the unit changed its name to the current Institute of Transportation University.

Since its establishment, the Institute of Transport Engineering Faculty has made a significant contribution to the development of science and profession in the field of traffic and transport, along with the processed more than 1,700 studies and projects, expertise, expertises et al.Among these are studies of strategic character and important for the development of the transport system of the country and for certain types of transport and traffic studies and economic feasibility for major infrastructure projects in railways and roads that are credited to the World Bank in Washington and the European Investment Bank in former Yugoslavia. The Institute is a holder of a strategic research project in the field of transport, technological and innovation projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Serbia.
